Audiobooks

LISTENING RATHER THAN READING

Audiobooks are another great way to take in a play if you cannot see it in a theatre. Audible, which produces audiobooks, has a website called Audible Theatre which has a list of plays that have been done as audiobooks here. Audible is also supporting new works through the Emerging Playwrights Fund which is dedicated to the commission and development of innovative works from playwrights around the globe. There is a free audiobook of Ibsen’s A Doll’s House here. And an audiobook of The Importance of Being Earnest is available for sale here. The list of Shakespeare plays produced by the Folger Theatre as audiobooks is here. Otherwise, many of the more well-known plays are on the Audible list.

If you have listened to an audiobook of a play that you have found enjoyable, please let us know and we will add it to the list.
